NC Swiss Tour - 4th Round Results

Domitilla Mattei and Fanny Andrey won the last round of NCST 09-10 in Crans-Montana!

In spite of the storm 11 girls took part in the last qualifying round of the NIKITA CHICKITA SWISS TOUR. The event took place in the snowpark of Crans-Montana (VS) on Saturday March 6th.

Because of the bad weather the event took place on one line only: a kicker of 5-6 m followed by a series of boxes and rails (rainbow, c-box, down-flat box, flat-box, flat-down box and wave box). The girls had an hour and a half of jam session to decide between one or the other.

The Italian snowboarder Domitilla Mattei stood out with runs composed of beautiful a back 360° on the kicker to take first. Super technical and stylish on the jib was Laura Berry from England, who ranked second. Local Léa Klaue, joined them on the podium in third.

The skier Fanny Andrey from Bulle made the most amazing runs either on the kicker or on the jib to take first place, followed closely by Nicole Berra and Axelle Marchon.

These six girls are the last qualifiers for the big final of the NIKITA CHICKITA SWISS TOUR 09-10 which will be held in Thyon (VS) on March 20th.

Nikita Chickita Sweden 2010

Our girl on the ground, Pia Kaipainen, Nikita’s European Marketing Manager, was there to give us the inside story.

Friday 5th March 2010
Friday morning 7.30AM, the car windows had a thick layer of ice from snappy night temperatures of -30 degrees. We dressed up like Michelin men with 3 underlayers and down jackets and headed to meet with Noppa - Kläppen's park manager. We went through the competitor list and logistics of the next day's contest. After wrapping up the meeting we went to the park to meet with the local shred ladies Matilda Pilfalk, Tove Holmgren & co.

The girls were pushing themselves and super motivated to do their best on Saturday. It says something about the level of the riding when the ladies were insisting to use the black line in the park instead of the red line that we were first thinking of using!  12 o'clock sharp all Swedes head for lunch and so did we.  It was great to chat with the girls and get to know them a bit better. The Nikita spirit was obvious; the girls totally supported each other and pushed one another to go bigger. That kinda friendship is so nice to witness. The rest of the day was spent hanging out together with girls, doing some riding and checking the girls' riding in the park.  The day ended with a tasty dinner at Tranan restaurant with some girls competing the next day. After the dinner some of the crew stayed in the club and had some soda's :-) Overall a fantastic day!

Saturday 6th March 2010
Saturday morning didn't differ much from Friday's freezing temperatures but that didn't slow us down – 8.00AM we were loading the car with banners, goodie bags, beachflags and tents for Nikita Chickita.  Noppa picked us up from the parking lot with a snowmobile and then it was time to set the gear up in the park.  At 10.00AM we had a riders meeting and went through the schedule for the day.  Then the girls went off to warm up and finalize what tricks they were gonna pull off at the contest. The event kicked off at 11.00AM with each girl having 4 individual runs on the black kicker line followed by 3 runs in the rail line. The judges, last year's Nikita Chickita Norway & Europe winner Cecilia Larsen and former Olympic snowboarder Anna Hellman were facing some tough decisions as all the girls in the contest were really talented.

After rewinding everyone's runs and discussing each girl’s strengths the judges gave out the results for the day. Everyone gathered at the tent in the park and you could feel the excitement in the air... The girl who picked up the jackpot of the day, i.e. a ticket to Nikita Chickita Scandinavia in Geilo, Norway, was Malin Johansson. She did a super smooth backside 360 with tailgrab into a frontside 360 in the last kicker. The second place went to Tove Holmgren who did a stylish frontside 540 mutegrab and backside air which also gave her a prize for the best trick of the day.  Third place went to Jessica Fromm Comte.  She did backside 360 indiegrab and frontside 540. The highest trick prize went to Atti Holst for spinning a huge backside 360 indiegrab in the first kicker.

Malin Johansson was stomping almost every trick and put down a really nice run on the rails.  She was a deserving winner!  After prize-giving ceremonies and photos everyone just chilled out in the beautiful afternoon sunshine with some juice and candy found from the goodie bags. There was not one girl leaving the park without a smile on their face so good times were had by everyone in Kläppen!  That evening we had a super nice meal with the whole Nikita crew and most of the girls from the contest. The table was full of happy but tired competitors and lots of laughs were shared.   BIG THANKS goes to the Skateout crew, Kattis and Karla, who did an amazing job organizing the contest and supporting the girls' snowboard scene in Sweden!!  Both Kattis and Karla are such a joy to be around and everything was precisely organized, look out for the contest again next year!  A big shout out to the Kläppen ski resort (Noppa, Marie, the Kläppen snowpark crew - and everyone else we had the pleasure to work with).  And last but not least our judges Cecilia and Anna and all the girls in the contest who truly made the event!

Ett stort TACK til ertl alla!
RESULTS (All girls from Sweden)
1st Place – Malin Johansson
2nd Place – Tove Homgren
3rd Place – Jessica Fromm Comte

Lisa Filzmoser signs to Nikita Outerwear Team

Austrian shredster Lisa Filzmoser is no stranger to Nikita, having been part of the family since 2002.  Well she has now just been signed onto the Nikita Outerwear and Streetwear Team for the next two years!

Lisa met Runar and Heida at IPP camp in May 2003 at the time when she was filming for snowboard movie Dropstitch.  She got onto Nikita’s International Team in 2005 and since then has had a lot of good times in Iceland.

It’s no secret Lisa is a top female snowboard talent, with appearances in a lot of movies in the last few years. She has been part of Dropstitch, Transfer, Last Winter, Float, Whiteever, more recently Stance alongside the likes of Jenny Jones, Gretchen Blieler and Hana Beaman and a feature part in La Famiglia movie ’Serious...not’.  Most of the movies she has worked on were all girls.  She loves to work with both girls and movies involving guys.  “I don’t care if it is girls or guys I ride with as long as everyone is motivated and fun to ride with.  Sure there is a difference between girls and guys crews; with girls I can just do all the girls talk and have fun with them, with the guys I like their fast approach to get stuff done on the mountain but I honestly love both.“

She’s on the filming and shooting train again working on a new filming project with True Color Films.  Alongside Alvaro Vogel, Rene Schnöller, Filippo Kratter, Nicholas Wolken and more friends, they will be headed on a series of four trips to countries like Italy, Japan, Austria and Argentina.  “Four short snowboard movies with legit riding and good editing, without forgetting the fun we have on the snow. Each video will have a run-time of around 10 to 15 minutes per movie.”

Check out www.truecolorfilms.com for more info, little videos and photos on the blog.  The movies will also be available as free downloads online, so watch out for them!  Lisa is currently in Japan after her first trip with them to Italy.  Read about it here on the Nikita Blog

She has a great attitude and has an enviable style powering through park or busting out moves in big mountain terrain and powder.  Picking her dream day out riding Lisa says “it has to be with powder and friends.  If it’s super fun treeruns in snowy weather, a kicker or hiking session in backcountry, its all super fun and satisfying.“

Finally, Lisa had this to say; “I am super stoked to be on the Nikita Outerwear Team now too!  The clothes just stand out, by design and comfort and all the passionate people that are behind it!  I just love Nikita!“

The feeling is mutual and Geiri, Nikita’s International Marketing Man is super happy to welcome her..."We love Lisa and we love the fact that she is now also part of our Outerwear team. She is an awesome, talented, beautiful human being and it is our great privilege to welcome her to our outerwear family."

A short report from Kläppen

Pia, Nikita's European Marketing gal is at Nikita Chickita Sweden and she sent us a short report and some photos yesterday of how things are going before the event kicked off.

"Sunshine peeking through the curtains woke us up this morning into a beautiful winter day in Kläppen ski resort, located in Sälen Sweden. We threw on our Nikita gear and headed up the mountain to check out the park which was in stellar condition. We also met up with a local Nikita shred lady: Matilda Pilfalk (Nikita Sweden team rider) who was filming some rails in the park. She is looking forward to the Nikita Chickita shred fest on Saturday and will for sure have some great tricks up her sleeve for the judges and spectators to admire!

Tomorrow we shall start preparing the park with banners, beachflags and tents plus have a planning meeting with the Kläppen snowpark's master shaper, Noppa, amongst other things.

On Friday evening the Nikita crew will be barbequing some tasty burgers on-hill and have a funfunfun jib session open for everyone (that is if you are a girl :). And excitement does not stop here: the Swedish Idol winner, Erik Grönvall, also known as a bit of a heart-throb, is going to be performing in the afterski. Us ladies are being totally spoiled here in Sweden!

More news tomorrow - until then "ha det bra" as they say in Sweden!

Hejdå!
