Hot stuff in Moscow

As recent reports suggest, Moscow is in the grip of a mega heat wave and to combat that and make some fun, 24th July in Moscow Traektoria Wake Park Nikita held the Nikita Sun Day! 

By 2 o'clock almost everyone who wanted a free wakeboard ride were already stood in line.  Friends from the Tattva centre spread their mats for some shaded yoga and the fruits in the bar began to melt.  Those girls that turned up to enjoy some free wake but hadn't pre-registered got a discount from the Wake Club anyway leaving everyone really happy. 

Tanya Chekhova took to the mic entertaining everyone and creating a great atmosphere for the contest throughout the day.  The girls had chances to win prizes at the best staged air guitar rock show, blowing giant soap bubbles, staying on the balance board.....loads going on to keep all amused.  

To improve body and mind in the incredible heat, Hindu Prananath, a master in yoga, impressed all with his flexibility and art of the body.  Photographer Kirill Umrihin livened things up by bringing some water guns and taking some great snap shots of the Russian beauties in bikinis.  DJs Panda, Rul' and Oscar kept the vibe going for an unfortgettable day in the wildly hot Russian capital.  Check out the photos and video.

NIKITA Pro Junior Sopelana

The ASP NIKITA Pro Junior Sopelana is underway, although conditions haven't been great.  Today sees the women's event happen and results could be announced before the weekend as swell predictions still aren't looking...swell!

Kara Rennie COC riding

Kara continues riding this summer at COC (Camp of Champions) in Whistler.  "The weather started off kinda crappy but by mid week of camp B it was perfect and has been since.  Nikita Mondays have been super fun with all the girls, riding and skating the mini ramp."

She sent us a few shots, a couple on the jump taken by Joseph Gaynor and the hip shot by Nick Dubeau - cheers!

Ivy back to DJ Xperience Festival

The multi-skilled Miss Taylor has been asked to DJ at the launch event for this year's Xperience Festival happening at Whitley Bay's Panama Skate Park on 14th & 15th August.  The new feature skate comp will have pro demos and urban art workshops going on among a bunch of other stuff.

Driving Miss Daisy

Singer / Songwriter Daisy Borthwick is on the road and here's a couple of photos of her beloved car to prove it.  If you see her about, honk a hello!  She's gigging over August / September and getting ready for more on road action and gigs in France. 

She's in Truro, UK over the weekend and playing at Zafiros if anyone is lucky enough to be in the area and check her out.  She's also set up a blog to keep everyone up to date with the tour.

Sarah Martinais interviews

Freestyle skier Sarah Martinais has done a couple of interviews recently and you can see her featured on Skipass.com and babsurf.com. 

She's also been away in New Zealand, lucky lady, and is currently in Wanaka for a few days.  Before that she spent a month in Raglan, famous NZ surf spot - she'll send us some photos and more news soon. 

As she's over in NZ at the moment, she may also be making a guest appearance at the Nikita Chickita camp in Cardrona on 8th August...we'll keep you posted!

Nikita Chickita New Zealand 2010

That's right folks, Nikita Chickita is not over for 2010.  The epic Cardrona Alpine Resort will host TWO Nikita Chickita ski and snowboard freestyle camps for girls only to be held on 8th August and 4th September 2010.  Each camp caters for up to fifty girls so expect plenty of smiles, laughter and friendships to blossom in the southern hemisphere!

For beginners and intermediate level riders there will be a champagne breakfast before hitting up a full day of coaching and riding with Cardrona’s top female instructors and coaches and guest pro female riders hanging and helping out.  Including Olympic halfpipe snowboarder Kendall Brown, X-Games (snowboard slopestyle) competitor Shelly Gotlieb and top freeskier Janina Kuzma. The day will be broken up with a lunch break on the hill, afternoon prize giving and then more bubbly to flow at the Mint Bar in Wanaka for the evening’s party. 

To get involved just drop into the snowsports centre at Cardrona, 18 Dunmore Street, Wanaka or 35 Shotover Street, Queenstown.  There are limited places already so book early to avoid disappointment!  Cost for the whole day is just $120 to include champagne breakfast, all day coaching, lunch, goodie bag and prizes.  Participants will also get a 50% discount on a full day ticket at the Cardrona resort.
