Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

May’s almost here! That means we are almost 5 months into our New Year’s Resolutions of living a clutter free life and simplifying our lifestyles…. Right?

In between life’s crazy curveballs, schedule changes, a social life, exercising, staying healthy, etc. it’s hard to find time to catch up on things we’ve been neglecting (i.e. folding laundry, meditation, shaving legs, cleaning). So now we find ourselves thinking about everything we have to do before the summer months.

At our Portland office, we have come up with a few tips to help you get motivated to clean out he oldies and reinvent ourselves for the second time this year. WOOO!

Here we go:

#1. Map it out

- Make yourself a list of everything that you would like to be done and map out a timeline. It’s so much easier to visualize exactly what you have to do/ when you need to do it and helps organize the cluttered thoughts you have going on upstairs.

*Bonus: You can scratch things off the list…. An oddly satisfying thing to do.

#2. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was the mess.

- It will take time! We know from experience, distractions happen (let’s reminisce at our 3rd grade yearbooks and see what Jimmy wrote to us circa 2003). Things will come up and you may not get to everything you wanted to that day. Don’t get frustrated if you aren’t able to completely finish the task – but don’t cross it off your list either. Even a little progress is still progress.

#3. Make donation piles

- If you aren’t going to use it, don’t keep it! If you think you may use whatever said item is, then put it in a spot where you will see it. If you don’t use it by the next spring cleaning, you know what to do.

#4. Celebrate – break out your finest cheese log

- Hey, you did it. Invite some friends over, go pop that bottle of Prosecco, and get yourself

some cheese and crackers! You deserve it :)
